Fund Raising Activities and Donations.

The Paleon Museum is a non-profit organization and depends on the generosity of our supporters to keep going. We hold several major fundraising events throughout the year and gratefully accept donations at any time.

Building Fund

In 2005 the Paleon Museum ran a fundraiser in an attempt to purchase our building. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet our goal, but all of the generous people who gave did not do so in vain. We reduced our amount owed with what was donated and will continue to raise funds for this purpose. Once the building is owned by the Paleon, many other grant opportunities will become open to us for renovation and expansion. If you would like your tax deductible donation to be put specifically into the building fund, simply include a note to this effect and the money will be placed in the proper account.

Garage Sale

Every year during Deer Creek Days, the Paleon holds its garage sale. Deer Creek Days is an annual celebration held in Glenrock during August to honor the creation of the town. There are many activities throughout the town and our garage sale is usually a big hit. We begin accepting donated items in May of each year to begin the sorting and tagging process in order to create as much organization as possible to aid in the ease of shopping. This is one of our best yearly fundraisers and we thank everyone who’s donated or will donate! Like so many things here at the Paleon—we couldn’t do it without your support!

Lady Stephanie’s Birthday Party

When our Director of Paleontology, Sean Smith, found Stephanie in 1994 he didn’t realize just how important she would become. The landowner graciously donated the fossil to the children of Glenrock and from his generosity—plus the tenacity of the Glenrock community—the Paleon Museum was born.

To celebrate each year of “life”, the museum holds a birthday party for Stephanie every May. The celebration starts at the museum in the morning with activities for the kids, followed by a chili feed. There are door prizes all day along with a silent auction. There is also birthday cake served in the afternoon. The festivities continue that evening at the Paisley Shawl, another of Glenrock’s fine establishments. A gourmet dinner is served and a guest speaker gives a talk on what’s new and exciting in the field of Paleontology. Festivities at the museum are free and dinner tickets are $30 per person.
